Mangar History

  • Doug and Don leave TAS

Brothers Don Coleman and Doug Coleman leave their company TAS and discuss a future in the medical packaging sector.
  • Father's Funding Starts the Business

After an emotional talk in a 711 parking lot; John, Doug, and Don decide to go into business as a family. Doug and Don can fondly remember their father John saying, "I can't believe they pay you what they do". Despite his apprehension, John and a friend decided to finance the business.
  • Unnamed Business Finds a Home

Still an unnammed business and only a growing seed of an idea, the family operation settled in Colmar, Pennsylvania. At this point the division labor was structured with Don responsible for the external portion such as customer service, while Doug handled internal matters such as manufacturing and sales.
  • Mangar is Born

On April 1, 1986, a previously unnamed business was officially incorporated as Mangar. However this was only the start of a journey. The first year provided many unforseen hardships for the two determined brothers. When they found out they couldn't order materials without being liscened and their father's friend wanted out after the first quarter, it was difficult to see how Mangar would survive.
  • A Turning Point in Mangar's Success

After years of hard work and perserverance, Mangar managed to get its foot in the door with Johnson & Johnson. This client was a major turning point Mangar's past and is still their biggest client today. Mangar brought overnight delivery to what was perceived as a "boys club" industry. Mangar brought a family-oriented, friendly, and personable approach to the stiffy environment. This upset their competitors, but appeased their clients.
  • First Delivery

While their first delivery was inevitable, it was by no means conventional. Unlike other medical packaging giants in the industry, Mangar didn't have the traditional equipment to create the packaging. Therefore, they had to devise their own "homemade" machine to produce their products.
  • Mangar on the Move

By 1990, the Mangar company was no longer in its infancy trying to survive, it was expanding. Mangar moved to its current location on 97 Britian Dr. where it increased its facility's square footage from 3500 to 15000. This extra space allowed more room for more machines which was instrumental in filling their orders as quickly as possible.
  • $1,000,000

At this point Mangar is an up-and-coming powerhouse in the industry. All the travelling, cold calls, and dedication to a cause led to this milestone and they have no looked back since.
