    This dealt with the exclusion of children whom had disabilities. Also parental participation is required for agreeing with the educational placement of their child.
  • Mills v. Board of Education of District of Columbia

    Mills v. Board of Education of District of Columbia
    Making sure students who have disabilities are being given the right to an education and also can be held accountable by law if schools fail to do this.
  • Rehabilitation Act

    Civil rights law that prohibits discriminations of individuals with disabilities by entities that receive federal funds and ensures a child has access to education
  • The Education for all Handicapped Act of 1975

    The Education for all Handicapped Act of 1975
    This established that all students have the right to have access to a free education. Also stated that schools were going to be accountable for providing educational services for all students who have disabilities.
  • Education of All Handicapped Act was renamed to Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

    Education of All Handicapped Act was renamed to Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
    This made the law more person first language. Also included more to what the school needs to provide for the child such as assistive technology, mandated transition services, it also added autism and traumatic brain injury to the eligibility requirements.
  • Florence Co. School District Four v. Shannon Carter

    If public schools failed to provide an appropriate education and the student has to go to a private organization the school is required to reimbursed for the child's education.
  • M.L. v. Federal Way School District

    There was not a general education teacher included in the IEP which led to the loss of educational opportunity and denial of FAPE
  • Jarron Draper v. Atlanta Independent School System

    Misdiagnosed young boy who had dyslexia was claimed to have an intellectual disability was placed in a self-contained classroom for years where did not learn how to read.
  • Tereance D. and Wanda D. v. Sch Dist of Philadelphia

    district failed to provide FAPE for many years and performed several misdiagnoses claiming the children had intellectual disabilities or an emotional disturbance disorder, the parent was misled about services for her son's right to autism services
  • Endrew F. vs. Douglas County School District

    Child with autism was not making any progress in the public school, so they sent their child to a private school and the child increased a lot in that one year.
