    Adobe is a type of clay used to make houses, tile and brick. Most Native Americans used adobe for there houses and as a main resource in there lives. Adobe provided shelter and new archetecture.

    To migrate is to move as a group from one area to another. The main people who migrated were in large groups, colonies, or herds. Some reason why people migrated was climate, better land, or more resources. Migration started in the early 1600's with the pilgrams but is still happening today so it is hard to put an end date on it.

    Bacon's Rebellion was an armed rebellion in 1676 by Virginan settelers lead by Nathaneil Bacon. The pint of this rebellion was to go against the rule of Govener William Berkley. About 1000 settalers of all classes rebelled.

    The Iroquois Leage was make by the Native Indians. The Leage included the Mohawk, Onedia, Onondaga, Cayvaga, and Senega tribs. They later became known as the Siy Nations. The leage wanted peace, civil authority, righteousness, and the great law. This leage helps choose leaders and making imprtant decisions.

    Presido was a fortified military settlement in Spanish America. The main purpose was to protect against pirates, hostile native americans and colinists. Its first known use was in 1763, the exact date is not known.

    Northwest Passage
    The Northwest Passage was a sea route connecting the Northern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. This passage was founded by explorers. The poin t of this passage was a new trade route between countries across the oceans.
  • Anaconda Plan

    It was an initial Civil War strategy of the US Army to put down tnhe rebellion by the Confederacy in 1861. Blockade the coast of the South to prevent the export of goods. Divide the South by controlling the Mississippi River. Plan by the Union, not a battle. Would have been more effective if started in the beggining of the war.
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    Confederates attack the Union fort in South Carolina. Their were 80 Union soldiers and 500 Confederates. Confederates opened fired on the fort from Charleston Harbor. This was the first battle of the Civil War. Only 1 death on the Union side.
  • Battle of Shiloh

    Union had about 66,000 men and the Confederates had about 44,700 men. Took place in Tennessee. Union caputured forts Donelson & Henry in Feburary. Confederates win the battle. Known as the bloodest battle before Gettysburg.

    Battle of Fredericksberg

    One of the largest and deadilest battle of the Civil War. Confederate victory. Battle was fought on Southern territory. Woman helps provide clothing and blankets and took roles as field nurces. African Americans could volenteer to serve but didn't get the same treatment as other soldiers. Led to the "Mud March" in January 1863.

    Took place in Chancellorville, Virginia. The Union had more soldiers than the Confederates but the Confederates won the battle. Stonewall Jackson died by friendly fire.

    The Siege of Vicksburg

    Vicksburg was the last major Confederate stronghold on the MIssissippi River. The Union was attempting to cut off the Confederates resources. This was a failed attempt by the Union. On July 3rd, General Pemberton sent a note which demanded a unconditional surrender.

    Union wins this battle. This was the largest battle of the Civil War and in North America. November 19, 1863; Gettysburg address. Some women were disguised as soldiers and their were no African Americans

    The Union won this battle. Atlanta became the capitol of Georgia in 1868. Atlant was used as a cneter of military operations nd as a supply route by the Confedertes. This was target for the Union. The South has an adventage becuse they new the land and los hd a fort.

    The North had 62,000 men and the South hd 13,000. The March destroyed 100 million dollars in damage, livestock, goods, miles of railrods. Lincoln didn't approve this plan. The economy was destroyed. Freed slaves along the march. Killed Souths morale.
