    Pudge leaves for Culver Creek where he meets the Colonel for the first time
  • 2.

    Pudge follows the Colonel to go meet Alaska where she shares a story with them. Pudge learns the ins and outs of Culver Creek from Alaska while they hang out on the large swing near the lake.
  • 3.

    A few of the Weekday Warriors play a prank on Pudge by throwing him into the river. They also prank the Colonel causing a war between the two groups to begin due to a rumor that the Colonel ratted out one of their friends. Pudge goes to talk to Alaska about what happened, but she shuts him out and tells him he has to deal with his own problems. Pudge heads to his first day of classes including World Religions, which is taught by Mr. Hyde. He also meets one of Alaska's friends Takumi

    Mr. Hyde kicks Pudge out of his class for not listening to his enlightening lecture, but Alaska sticks up for him and is also told to leave as well. They both begin to engage in a long conversation about everything that has happened until Takumi and the Colonel arrive.

    Both the Colonel and Pudge head to one of Culver Creek's basketball games where the Colonel gets kicked out for yelling too many insults at the other team. Pudge has no problem with following his friend after he gets ejected from the game.

    Pudge studies with Alaska and a few others for the upcoming precalc test where he meets Lara for the first time. After Pudge, Takumi, the Colonel, and Alaska all get caught smoking by the Eagle they are sent to the Jury to receive their punishment.

    Takumi confirms to Pudge that Alaska was the one who ratted out the Weekday Warriors friend to the Eagle. Pudge confronts Alaska about it and she tells him the truth about why she had to do it. Pudge understands her reasons, and Alaska eventually asks him to stay for Thanksgiving, which he agrees to do so.

    The Colonel invites everyone over to his house for Thanksgiving where the Colonel's mom serves them the best Thanksgiving dinner Alaska has ever had.

    The group plans for the Barn Night, which is the ultimate prank on the Weekday Warriors, which will finally make life unpleasant for them. Once they complete the prank the group shares their worst stories and best stories, which Alaska reveals her guilty past to everyone.
  • 10.

    Pudge admits his feelings to Alaska after she plays a game of a Truth or Dare with him. During the middle of the night Alaska quickly answers a phone call only to start immediately breaking down in front of both the Colonel and Pudge. Alaska ends up leaving campus without another word to her friends.
  • 11.

    Both the Colonel and Pudge are woken up early in the morning and are told to head to the gym for a meeting. Once they arrive the Eagle begins to deliver news about Alaska's death. It shocks both friends and Pudge can't face the reality that he has lost the person he loved.
  • 12.

    Pudge can't let go of what has happened and begins to investigate the cause of Alaska's death. The Colonel tells him to let it go, but Pudge has a feeling that Alaska could have committed suicide. He continues his search for many weeks until the Colonel finally gives in to help him.
  • 13.

    Takumi, who has become nonexistent to the Colonel and Pudge explains to Pudge that Alaska did not commit suicide. He tells him that it was the anniversary of her mother's death and she forgot. Alaska was infuriated and drunk at the same time causing her to crash into the police car. Takumi kept the secret for so long since he felt left out of what was going on.

    The group plans a final prank in Alaska's name to remember and honor her, which is what she would have wanted.
  • 15.

    Pudge writes his final essay for Word Religions class. He has to give an answer as to how to get out of the labyrinth, which has been Alaska's question since the beginning of the book. Her answer was quick and fast, but Pudge's answer was to find adventure and live life.
