  • Declaration of Independence

    In 1776 the Declaration of Independence was created so all people in the colonies seperated form England. They did this because England controlled what they did, until they wrote the Declaration of Independence. All people were granted life, liberty, and the pursuit of happieness. This was the stepping stones to freedom from Britain.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    The United States bought the Louisiana Territory from France, for 15 million dollars. That is about three cents and acre. The purchase more than doubled the size of the nation. President Thomas Jefferson was thrilled, because he believed in a republic of small farmers, and that required land.
  • Lewis and Clark's Journey West

    Lewis and Clark's Journey West
    Merriweather Lewis and William Clark were hired by Thomas Jefferson to explore and map the Louisiana Territory. Their journrey lasted almost 2 1/2 years. A Native American girl, Sacagawea, helped them survive along the way. On their expedition Lewis and Clark made great discoveries. They found a northwest passege to the ocean. Lewis found over 200 new plant and animal species unknown to science. Clark made a new and accurate map of the territory. Their journey greatly impacted America .
  • The Attack on Fort Sumter

    On April 12, 1862, confederate troops attacked Fort Sumter. Many heavy guns were involved, and a man for each one. This was the beginning of the Civil War. In the end, Fort Sumter surrendered.
  • The First Flight

    Brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright flew the firat airplane on December 17, 1867, in Kitty Hawk, North Caolina. They used a 12- horsepower internal combustipon engine to power the plane. On December 17, the aircraft ran down a monrail track and into the air staying aloft for 12 seconds and flying 120 feet. This was the start of modren aviation.
  • Sinking of the Titanic

    On the night of April 14, to the morning of April 15, 1912, the RMS Titanic sunk in the North Atlantic Ocean. 2,224 people were estimated to be aboard the Titanic when it hit the iceberg. It took the Titanic 2 hours and 45 minutes to sink after it hit the iceberg. The sinking of the Titanic caused the deaths of more than 1,500 people, which made it one of the deadliest shipwrecks in history.
  • Green Bay Packers Origin

    The Green Bay Packers were founded August 11, 1919, and is the third oldest franchise in the NFL. It is also the only non-profit, community owned major league sports team based in the United States. The Packers joined the American Professional Football Association o August 27,1921
  • Brown vs. Board of Education

    In the early 1950's schools were segragated, so often African American children had to travel far to go to a school for their skin color. The NAACP sued to allow children to all go to the same school, no matter thier skin color. On May 17, 1954, the court ruled that segragation was illegal. The next year schols were ordered to integrate students.
  • 9/11

    On September 11, 2001, four airplanes were taken over by terrorists. Two of these airplanes were guided toi hit the World Trade Center, and they were successful. Since the airplanes hit the towers, they eventually collapsed.
