Literacy process

  • 1 years old- begins to talk

    At around one years old I began to say simple words.

    At the age of 3 I was able to talk in pretty full sentences where I was able to communicate needs to my family
  • 5 years old- begins to read

    At the age of 5 in kindergarten I began to read simple children's books with my mom. I had a lot of help but I was able to get some words by sounding them out.
  • 7 years old- reading on my own

    By the age of 7 years old I was able to read on my own with no help.
  • 8 years old- began to learn new vocabulary

    8 years old- began to learn new vocabulary
    At 8 years old in third grade we worked a lot on new vocabulary in school. This caused me to use new, more advanced words in my everyday life
  • 10 years old- writing essays

    In fifth grade we began doing a lot of writing and essays to prepare for middle school.
  • 13 years old- Trouble with reading and writing

    Began to have trouble reading and writing at the same level of my classmates.
  • 14 years old- Improvement of reading and writing

    14 years old- Improvement of reading and writing
    As I was struggling the year before I began focusing more on my reading and writing leading to improvement.
  • 15 years old- honors english

    15 years old- honors english
    At 15 years old after my huge improvement in reading and writing I was recommended for honors english.
  • 18 years old- graduation

    18 years old- graduation
    With all my hard work in reading and writing, I finally graduated!
