It premiered in Connecticut in 2005 and opened at the 37 Arts Theatre off-Broadway in 2007. It won 4 Tony’s Awards and was nominated for 13. It also won a Grammy award. Production closed on January 9th, 2011, ending with 29 previews and 1,185 regular performances. -
Wrote Spanish translation to West Side Story
He worked with Stephen Sondheim to translate songs from West Side Story to Spanish. This was done for the 2009 revival of the production. -
Related to Calle 13?
During performances he was invited to by the group, he finds out he's related to Residente and iLe of the group. The relation comes from Gilberto Concepcíon de Garcia. -
5000 Broadway Productions
Miranda founded 5000 Broadway Productions. The In The Height movie, Hamilton and many other things Miranda has worked on have been through the production company. -

He had his first son, Sebastian Miranda, with his wife. They have decided to not put children on social media so they can live as normal of a life as possible. -
21 Chump Street
The one-act musical runs for 14 minutes. Miranda wrote and lyricized it. He also becomes the narrator who is a big part of this musical. The musical premiered on June 7th, 2014 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. -
Hamilton opens on Broadway
Hamilton premieres at the Public Theater, off-broadway on February 17, 2015. It has its second premiere on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Lin Manuel Miranda plays Alexander Hamilton during the workshops all the way until 2016 performances. He has come back to the role in 2019, where he went on some of the US tour. He got 16 tony nominations and won 11 of them. It was one short of the record. Hamilton still has performances to this day on broadway. -
Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA)
Miranda supported the act that was supposed to help with debt relief in Puerto Rico. It resulted in the closure of 200 schools, government labor benefit cuts, and budget cuts at the University of Puerto Rico. It caused a lot of backlash and Miranda acknowledges that it didn't go the way he was hoping for. -

He was named one of the "Most Influential People in the World" by TIMES magazine. Also receives a star on the Puerto RIcan Walk of Fame. -
Moana
He wrote music for the Disney film, Moana. If you listen to the soundtrack there are still some vocals done by him in the background. Songs started developing in 2013, while he was still finishing up writing Hamilton. -
Hurricane Maria
During the devastation of hurricane Maria he wrote a song, "Almost Like Praying" which got $22 million. He used that money for the Hispanic Federation to help with relief to Puerto Rico -
Hamilton in Puerto Rico
Miranda returns to the role of Alexander Hamilton to help raise money for Puerto Rico to repair after damage from the hurricane. Hamilton tickets sold within 2 hours for the 3-week run. -
Second son is born
Miranda and his wife have their second child, Francisco Miranda. His son was named after the crab from The Little Mermaid with the same name. -
Hollywood Star
He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. -
In The Heights in 2021
The 2008 production of In The Heights becomes a movie with a new cast. Lin Manuel Miranda who originally played Usnavi De Le Vega, becomes the Piragüero Man. He originally wasn't supposed to be in the movie but his appearance was VITAL. The movie stars Anthony Ramos who was John Laurens & Phillip Hamilton in Hamilton. -
Vivo is out!
Miranda plays Vivo the Kinkajou! He wrote the music with recurring collaborator Alex Lacamoire. This film came out as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
