  • Signs of pregnancy

    Morning sickness, can't stand the smell of some foods, late, positive pregnancy test.
  • First trimester

    Mood swings, morning sickness, nausea, weight gain
  • Weeks 1-2

    During this time the baby is getting ready. you're not actually pregnant the first week or two of the time allotted to your pregnancy. Conception typically occurs about two weeks after your last period begins. To calculate your due date, your health care provider will count ahead 40 weeks from the start of your last period.
  • Week 3

    The sperm and egg unite in one of your fallopian tubes to form a one-celled entity called a zygote. The zygote typically has 46 chromosomes 23 from you and 23 from the father. These chromosomes help determine what your baby looks like. Soon after fertilization, the zygote travels down the fallopian tube toward the uterus.
  • Week 4

    The inner group of cells will become the embryo. The outer group will become the cells that nourish and protect it.
  • Week 5

    The fifth week of pregnancy, or the third week after conception, marks the beginning of the embryonic period. This is when the baby's brain, spinal cord, heart and other organs begin to form.The embryo is now made of three layers. The top layer the ectoderm, the middle cells will form bottom layer lungs and bladder development. By the end of this week the baby is the size of a tip of a pen.
  • Week 6

    Growth is rapid this week. Just four weeks after conception, the neural tube along your baby's back is closing and your baby's heart is pumping blood. Basic facial features will begin to appear, including passageways that will make up the inner ears and arches that will contribute to the jaw. Your baby's body begins to take on a C-shaped curvature. Small buds will soon become arms and legs.

  • Second trimester

    Beginning of the second trimester honeymoon period. Typically, nausea subsides, emotions even out and sex drive returns. It's also the time when you'll start to feel the baby's first movements.

  • week 17

    baby develops fat which provides energy and help keep your baby warm after birth.
  • week 18

    baby's ears begin to stand out, your baby's hearing begins to kick in baby can hear noises/ voices.
  • weeks 20-24

    halfway through pregnancy, baby can swallow, baby's hair begins to grow and grows real hair, foot and finger prints form, baby is about 8 inches weighs more than 1 1/3 pounds.

    baby can respond to your voice.
  • week 26

    second trimester ends
  • Third trimester

    Beginning of the third trimester lasts until week 40 when you give birth. By this time in the pregnancy your belly is huge.
  • weeks 28-30

    baby's eyes begin to open- week 28
    baby's bones are fully developed- week 29
    baby's eyes are fully open by week 30
  • weeks 31-33

    week 31- nervous system development continues

    week 32- baby practices breathing
    week 33- baby detects light
  • weeks 35-38

    week 35 baby takes up most of the amniotic sac
    week 36- 37 baby is early term
    week 38 baby can grasp things
    by now your baby is about 6 1/2 pounds
  • Week 37-39

    During this time it might be a good idea to start inducing labor.
