Celebrating Christmas nearly a continent away from home, the group is given handkerchiefs and tobacco as gifts. These are the last of the rations.

After camping with the Blackfeet Warriors, there is a gunfight when ttwo of the Warriors try to steal horses and guns. The two Warriors were killed, and Lewis left a metal hoping for peace.
