    Pax Romana was the empire of Rome in it's prime. Peace in Rome. It began with the succession of Augustus in 27 BC and ended with the death of Marcus Aurelius.

    First Triumvirate

    60 BC.
    The First Triumvirate was made up of: Ceasur, Crassus, and Pompey. They overruled the Roman empire. After Crassus died it led to a civil war between Pompey and Ceaser. Ceasur was the victor and was proclaimed dictator for life in 44 BC.

    The Augustan age

    27 BC.
    For more than 40 years Augustus was the ead of state. Augustus started a program to bring peace to the west, particularly to Gaul and Spain. He began pushing the empire east of the Danube River.

    New line of emperors established itself on the Roman throne. 5 rulers governed Rome for almost a century. Almost all of them were from the province rather than Rome. Under their rule the empire grew tremendously. Peaking under the rule of Trajan.

    Rome influenced many in Science and Engineering. Ptolemy synthesized the knowledge of many others in astrology. Romans constructed and applied aqueducts which was very ahead of their time. The aqueducts allowed the empire to keep striving and growing.

    Rome conquered Judea after months of fighting under Pompey. Romans installed a new ruler, a king, to Judea. The Jews were forced to pay tribute to Romans. However, the Jews, unlike others, refused to abandon their religion, Judaism. Romans allowed them to keep practicing their religion.

    Jesus was born in Bethlehem, near Jerusalem, and grew up in Nazareth. Jesus began to preach a message of redemption and warning. Traveling through Judea he gathered a group of disciples.

    Weak leaders, whom were the result of the Good Emporers all dying off, caused multiple civil wars. Without a strong leader and violence going on the economy was stricken. Twenty emporers had ruled between 235 and 284. All but one of them died violently.
