    The first man-made satellite Sputnik one gets launched into outer space. This was one of the Soviet's biggest accomplishments in the space race.

    The Bay of Pigs battle which involved over a thousand Cuban exiles who were led by the U.S. was a massive failure and disaster that the government is still embarrassed by to this day.

    The Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War began with the first U.S. casualty on December 2nd, 1961. It ended on March 29, 1973. The Vietnam War was the most controversial war in American History, besides the civil war. While our troops fought in Vietnam. American citizens fought against the government demanding that we withdraw from the country. Troops who came home were called baby killers, and the whole war was one big massive failure.
  • John F. Kennedy Assassinated

    JFK was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald after a ten-month investigation. However, to this day there are many conspiracies about who really killed him. This includes the Russians, the Japanese, and the CIA. Many believe the CIA ordered his assassination in response to the bay of pigs' failure.

    President Richard Nixon is elected President of the United States of America.

    The 26th amendment is ratified lowering the voting age to eighteen instead of twenty-one.
