    Dwight D. Eisenhower's Presidency

    An Americal General turned President, he became a hero during WWII as he lead successful campaigns in Europe.
  • Polio Vaccine is Developed

    Jonas Salt develops a Polio Vaccine, the annual number of polio cases fell from 35,000 in 1953 to 5,600 by 1957. By early 1960s, Polio had been nearly been eradicated, less than 200 cases were reported by 1962.
  • The United States Coups Vietnam

    The United States installs Ngô Đình Diệm as the President of Vietnam in hopes of stabilizing the country after a coup. Communist countries associated with Vietnam were not pleased by this and stopped trade with Vietnam causing a steep decline in Vietnam's economy, however, the US continued to support them.

    The Vietnam War

    Considered to be one of Americas few losses, the United States was forced to remove troops after astounding losses.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Rosa Parks inspired the Montgomery Bus Boycotts by taking a seat in the whites-only, segregated section of a public bus. Bus companies began receiving strong backlash and members of the public refused to ride unless the company desegregated the bus.
  • Eisenhower Doctrine Begins.

    Eisenhower Doctrine meant a country could request American aid from the U.S. if it was being threatened by armed aggression from another state or country. This was created in an attempt to keep countries safe from Communist threat around the globe.
  • The Space Race Begins

    Russians launch Sputnik, the first Earth-orbiting satellite. The US had recently begun initiatives to beat the Russians in Sciences and technology fields however particularly focusing on space. This was a strong blow to the United States' track record of being the first in everything.
  • U.S First Launch Attempt

    The United States attempted to launch a satellite into space however the satellite failed and exploded on the launchpad. This was a humiliating defeat for the Americans however it did not stop them from continuing to work on the space programs.
  • Alaska and Hawaii Become States

    Alaska and Hawaii are both allowed to become states as Alaska contained a booming oil industry, as well as Hawaii, being a high volume tourist attraction giving the US dual incentives to allow them state status.

    John F. Kennedy's Presidency

    John F Kennedy, known for his infamous cheating scandal and being a Catholic in an anti-catholic time. JFK was assassinated in Dallas on November 22, 1963. The assassination was performed by Lee Harvey Oswald.

    Lydon B. Johnson's Presidency

    Johnson, known for his "Johnson treatment" tactics, was an aggressive position and JFK's vice president who took over after JFK's assassination
  • The US begins the Vietnam War

    Ho Viet Mihn came to control Vietnam as a communist and began an alliance with the USSR. The Viet Cong posed a threat to the peace of the entire country and JFK was advised to begin building up a military presence. The United States eventually build up 9,000 troops.
  • Martin Luther King Junior is Assassinated

    Martin Luther King Junior is considered to be one of America's greatest peace and anti-racism advocates. Ames Earl Ray is responsible for the death of MLKJ, the assassination is thought to be racially motivated. African Americans, in particular, saw this as a rejection of their strides towards equality and symbolic of the status of the United States racial tensions.

    Richard Nixon's Presidency

    Most famously categorized by the Watergate Scandal, Nixon was president for 5 year, due to his resignation.
  • The 26th Amendment is Ratified

    The 26th Amendment is ratified allowing 18-year-olds to vote in the United States. While the majority of people were in favor of this amendment, there is still some controversy today if it should be raised or lowered.
  • The Watergate Scandal

    Nixon was caught on tape requesting certain conversations between his political opponents be taped, he was also found to have commanded a break-in to the DNC headquarters to have these tapes stolen and destroyed.
  • Microsoft is Created

    Bill Gates founds Microsoft ushering in the technology age that would continue for decades to come.
