Following the African Swine fever that happened in Haiti, the countries entire creole pigs population was murdered by 1982. This caused severe problems to many peasants since they depended on the pigs to survive (other pigs breads were imported to replace).

The newly inaugurated president, Préval, decided to make Agricultural production, administrative reform, and economic modernization, a government priority. Farmer started to concentrate in manioc, bananas, corns, sweet potato and rice. The grains and wheat are sold in rural markets along the roads.

Mud cakes become diet in Haiti since families are not able to afford food. Women mold clay and water into hundreds of plates and lay them on the ground to harden in the carrebean sun.

Major Primary Products: Bananas, Casanova, Rice, Bauxite and Sugar Cane. Haiti main partnerships for exportation is France and the United States. They mainly export coffee, cocoa, and bauxite. However, their main transportation services are cars, trucks and air transportation.
