    The United States and French Republic were two nations that had a lot of tension during the election of 1796. This tension was the cause of the XYZ affair. The United States and The French Republic had an undeclared war called Quasi-War. This war lasted from 1797 all the way to 1798. The war was a diplomatic and political epsiode from John Adams and his early administration.

    The election of 1796 was the first election that had more than one candidate running for office. There were four people that ran were John Adams, and Thomas Pinckney that both ran for office for the Federalist party. Aaron Burr, and Thomas Jefferson both were the two candidates that ran for office from the Democratic-Republican party. Overall, John Adams Won the election and took office for the Federalist party.

The XYZ affair was a an unofficial war between the United States and the Republic of France. This unofficial war was called Quais-War

    The alien and Sedition Acts were four bills passed by the 5th congress. The bills were passed by the federalist congress. This law said that any non-citizen could be impressioned if deemed a threat to the National Security of The United States. This law was chose to be very Unconstitutional and they wanted this law gone and out of the federal law system.

    The Kentucky and Virginia Resolution were a political statements that said The Alien and Sedition acts were Unconstitutional. They said that the every state had the right to declare any law Unconstitutional if necessary. The Kentucky and Virginia Resolution were written in 1798 and 1799. The Kentucky and Virginia Resolution was written by Vice President John Adams and James Madison.
