    He was born near the turn of the century in St. Paul MN. and was Irish and Catholic.
  • Scott’s dad gets fired

    Edward Fitzgerald despite his appearance of success was not a very successful businessman which in the end resulted in him losing his job. He came home a failure and was never able to recover. This had a deep affect on Scott as he vowed to never be a failure like his father
  • College

    College
    He was accepted at Princeton college. He joined the most prestigious drama club and ended up writing most of the lyrics and many plays they ended up showing. While he enjoyed writing so much it became a distraction from his studies and then he was put on academic probation. However years later he dropped out due to bad grades
  • World War I

    After flunking out of school Fitzgerald was feeling very upset but then a war started. He enlisted and went to boot camp hoping for another chance at glory. It was at a party where he met Zelda.
  • The War Ends

    On November 11th, 1918 right before Fitzgerald was set to go into combat in France when the armistice declared they were ending the war. Yet once again Scott Fitzgerald had missed out on his chance at glory.
  • Proposal

    The moment Scott was discharged from the army he proposed to Zelda. Luckily she said yes, however, before they could make it official, Scott had to get a job.
  • Zelda Breaks off Engagement

    Scott has gotten a job at an advertising company. He hated the work but was happy to be getting money so he could marry Zelda. He earned $35 a week but unfortunately this was not enough to let Zelda have the lifestyle she wanted to live so she broke off the engagement.
  • This Side of Paradise

    This Side of Paradise
    This Side of Paradise is published and by the end of the day the book was completely sold out. He wrote the book as an attempt to win back Zelda.
  • Marriage

    After the great success Scott’s book had been, Scott had become an instant celebrity and Zelda ended up changing her mind about marrying Scott, Scott and Zelda were married in the rectory of St. Patrick's cathedral in New York City.
  • Baby Girl

    Baby Girl
    Zelda gave birth to a baby girl, they named her Francis Scott.
  • A New Book is Published

    Scott published his second book The Beautiful and Damned. It included many issues that were also happening in his own marriage such as liquor and money.
  • Move to Europe

    In the Spring the Fitzgerald’s moved to Europe in hope to end all the extravagant parties that were surrounded and influenced by alcohol.By moving to Europe they were hoping it would allow Scott more time to focus on his new novel which was supposedly supposed to bring them out of money chaos.
  • Affair

    While Scott was working on his new book Zelda became restless and spent most of her days at the beach. There she met an aviator. In the past Zelda had flirted with other men but it never went anywhere. However, this time it was different and she ended up sleeping with the aviator. When Scott found out it broke a piece in him and he never seemed to recover from that.
  • Upcoming Years of Crisis

    The stock market had crashed but that had been the least of the Fitzgerald’s worries. Zelda had become increasingly ill which led to many hospitalizations and she ended up being diagnosed with schizophrenia.
  • A New Job

    In the summer Scott was offered a job as a screenwriter
