  • Joseph Farwell Glidden

    He lived on a farm in Dekalb, Illinois. He created the barbed wire. He went to the county fair and saw a neat invention with a block of wood and nails poking out of it and that gave him the idea to make barbed wire so that his farm animals couldn't get out and predators can't get in.
  • Coca-Cola

    In Atlanta, Georgia alcohol was banned. Since it was banned John Pemberton had to change his formula and name of his drink, what he created was French wine, but after he finished changing the name and formula he created Coca-cola.
  • Zipper

    Whitcomb L. Judson was from Chicago, Illinois. He got the idea of the zipper because of his invention the clasp locker, but that was only for shoes, so he thought of a way to make a zipper for all types of clothing.
  • Jesse W. Reno

    An inventor from New York City, created the escalator. He realized at Coney Island that people were having trouble going up stairs, which is where he got his idea.
