Protectorate
Japan declares a protectorate over korea. This is similar to the current relationship of Puorto Rico and the USA. -
Annexing Korea
Japan officially annexes korea, using them as extra land to build industries on. Korea is now a colony of Japan. -
Korea in the Potsdam Conference
The USA and USSR decide that when Japan gets defeated, it owuld be time to split Korea into their two halfs. Russia would encourage the communist government of the North and the United States would encourage the democratic government of the South.
These two halfs were devided by the 38th parallel -
Russia arrives in Korea
Russian troops arive in NK on the last few days of WWII. -
WWII ends
Japan surrenders the war to the allies, therefore handing over Korea to their respected leaders chosen from the Potsdam Conferance. -
US soldiers in Seoul
American soldiers finally reach Seoul (SK capital). They meet the Russian soldiers at the 38th parallel where they have been waiting for weeks. -

President Truman promisses aid to any capitalist countries fighting off the influence of communism. -
Korea's First President
This is when Syngman Rhee became the first president of South Korea, he won 92% of the votes held. -
Truman Desegregates Military
On this day Executive Order 9981 was signed. This order states that all militrary soldiers shall be treated with the same repect as one another not matter the race, skin colour, religion or origin of nationality. -
South Korea claims sovereignty over the peninsula
- I couldn't find the exact date in Augest so please excuse me if I'm wrong. In Augest South Korea denied the 'legitimac' of North Korea and states that they own the whole Penisnsula.

North Korea retaliates to South Korean statement.
- Again I could not find the exact date in Septermebr of which this even took place so please excuse me again if I'm wrong. In September North Korea 'denies the legitimacy' of South Korea and says that they own control over the entire peninsula.

North Korea is given the 'go ahead'
North Korean leaders heads to Moscow to ask Josef Stalin for permision to invade South Korea. Josef Stalin blaintly accepts the proposal assuming that the United States had no interests in Korea. -
South Korean Election
Although president Rhee lost the election, he remains in power. -
Korean War Begins
A full scale invation takes place. North Korea troops and takes storm past the 38th parallel like aints in their destroyed nest. They did not have much of a fight, mainly because the invation was a skeep attack. The South Korean's had no idea what was coming their way. -
USA joins the Korean war
President Truman did not stay at the Whitehouse while it was being renivated, consiquently the same day of the beginning of the Korean War. Because of this, he did not ask for Congresses aproval to join the war, instaed he joined anyway. -
Seoul gets Captured
North Korea over runs and takes control over Seoul. -
Battle of Osan
150k American troops died in an attempt to push back North Korean forces. This failed as the North Koreans continued to push farther down south. -
Pusan Perimeter
The North Korean army almost compleatly pushed their way to victory. They pushed the Americans and South Koreans back to the Pusan Perimeter which was a 50X50 mile squar shaped area on the southeastern most coastal line. -
MacArthers great plan
MacArther realized that if South Korea is to get their land back, they have to think of a stratage. His stragy was ot hit North Korean 100 miles past enimy lines on the coast of Inchon. This would cause a suprise to the North Koreans and more importantly, and easy pathway to Seoul. In a matter of weeks the entire South Korean land was restored. -
Retaliate
MacArther was given the go, by President Truman, to push past the 38th parallel. He tells MacArther that as long as no Chinese or Soviete troops get in the way, and that he is confident in victory, he is allowed to push farward. -
North Korean capital falls.
Pyongyang, the North Korean capital has been captured by American troops -
China joins the Korean war.
China warned the USA, UN and South Korea that if they push any closer to the boarder of North Korea and China, that they will retaliate. The United States and UN ignored this condition and decided to continue to push forwad until the Communist were wiped out from the Korean lands. -
Peace talk drag
Peace talks between the Chinese + North Koreans and the Americans + South Koreans have been decided to begin in Augest 1951. Although this was agreed, the war was dragged out for another 2 years. -
MacArther gets Fired
Truman finally decides it is time to Fire MacArther for his agressive acts against China and North Korea without the Presedent or Congresses aproval. -
Peace Treaty
As the US, China and North Korea discuss a peace treaty - acfter 2 more years of fighting along the boarders -, the UN states that both sides have wont the war.
