School
He went to elementary school in Braunsberg, Germany. He then moved back to Berlin to go to a university to become a civil engineer. -
After graduation
After he graduated, he worked as a stress analyzer for airplane manufactures. He resigned after wanting to build his own company. He wanted to make automatic calculators. -
First Invention
With help from his parents and friends, he began to build the device. Zonrad Zuse worked alone on his device which set him apart from other people. He worked on this project for 3 years and named it the Z1. -
Z1
The Z1 was operational in this year. The machine was not reliable though. The mechanical buttons had a tendency to get stuck. A friend of Konrad's, Helmut Schreyer, suggested vacuum tubes. -
Serving His Country
For 6 months he was deployed on the Eastern Frontier. His friends got him to transfer back over so he could build his machine. He came back only if he would work on the wings of flying bombs. -
Special Section F
He developed the S1 and the S2 when working here. They could measure the parameters of the wings automatically and put the numbers into digital numbers. The S1 and S2 were the first computing machines for factories. He also started the Z2 which was a better Z1. -
Z3
The Z3 became operational in this year. It was made out of electrical telephone relays only. -

The Zuse Ingenieurbüro und Apparatebau
He made his own company in 1941. He built the Z4 during this time. It was similar to the Z3 but had more memory space. It was almost operational in 1945, but the Russian troops came. Zuse fled with the Z4 and settled in Bavaria where he began to rebuild his company. -
Plankalkul
This was the first programming language made in the world. Zuse wrote it starting in 1943 and was done by 1945. The book said how to build a computer and how to hardware and software a machine. -

Graphomat and New Z1's
The graphomat is a plotter used by scientist to make diagrams and drawings. He also designed the Z22 and Z23 with help from his engineers. The Zuse KG was made but proved to be too costly for the company and was sold in 1962 -
Biography
Konrad Zuse was born in Berlin, Germany on June 22, 1910. He moved around to different schools a lot when he was younger. When college came around, he attended Technical University of Berlin were he studied civil engineering. In 1936 he began building the Z1. Zuse started from scratch on his calculator and used the binary system. Zonrad was put in the army during WWII, but got a transfer so he could work on his projects. -
Biography
In 1940 Zuse made the Z2 which led to the making of the Z3. He started his own business in 1941, and created the Z4. Russians invaded, and Zonrad fled with the Z4 and his book on the makings of computers. He rebuilt his company in Bavaria. He built many more Z1 all going up to the number 23. On the Z22 and Z23, he used vacuum pipes to make his creation. Zuse married Gisela Brandes on Janurary 6, 1945 and had five children. Konrad died on December 18,1995. -

Konrad Zuse died in 1995 on December 18 at 85.
