  • Treaty of Paris (French and Indian War) - Cause

    Treaty of Paris (French and Indian War) - Cause
    The Treaty of Paris ended the war in 1763. By the Treaty Britain claimed all of North America east of the Mississippi River. France gave Spain New Orleans, Louisiana and the French territory west of the Mississippi for there reward for the help. Britian gave back Cuba and the Philippines to Spain for Florida. The treaty ended French power in North America.

    Proclamation of 1763
    This proclamation was put in place after the French and Indian War. It forbid settlers from setting past the Appalachian Mountains. It was also put in place to stabilize relations with Native North Americans through regulation of trade, settlement, and land purchases on the western frontier.   • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Britoan had a large dept from the French and Indian War and needed a way to make money to pay back the dept and since they fought the war to protect the colonies they placed a tax on sugar, molasses, and other products shipped to the colonies to earn the money back. This caused a boycott of all products shipped to the coloonies which caused a loss in money of shpping.
    Purpose- To raise money to pay back fthe dept from French and Indian War.

    Britian needed money to house troops in the colonies and to repay its debt from the French and Indian War. This Act was like extention to the Sugar Act. this Act taxed legal and commerical documents. This lead to the colonial leaders to protest saying they were being taxed without there consent.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    Britian needed a place to house and supply 10,000 solider in the colonies to enforce the proclamation and to keep peace with the British and Native American allies. The decided to created the Quartering Act which was a cost saving measure that required the colonists to house British soldiers and provide then with supplies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    While standing guard of the Custom House on king Street, the British soldiers were getting challenged to fire their muskets. As a result of that, one British soldier misheard his command and fired into the crowd. There were 5 deaths and 6 injurys from the shootings.

    The Tea Act was the repeal of all the acts exept the tax on tea. It was put together to try and preveent the smugging of tea into the colonies. Following this was the Boston Tea Party. Colonists and merchants got mad that they were being tax on tea without there consent and broke out in rage.

    A group of men protesters of the Tea Act, which put a tax on tea, board 3 ships in the Boston Harbor dressed as Native American. That night George Hewes and the men destroyed 342 chests of tea. Some of the coloniest rejoiced at the news of this event but some doubted that this was the best way to settle the tax debate.

    Intolerable Acts (Coeercive Acts)- CHANGE DATE
    This group of Acts included the Boston Port Act, Quartering Act, Administration of Justice Act, and Massachusetts Goverment Act.These Acts were put in place to stripped Massachusetts of self govenerment, and historical rights. This cause an outbreak of outraged colonist which later formed the American Revolution in 1775.
  • First Continental Congress

    This a was convention of 12 of the 13 colonies where Geogia was on present at Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 56 members attended. This meeting was put in place to try and remove the Intolerable Acts. With no result to this the Second Continental Congress had to be put in place.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    At dawn British troops went to Lexington & found Caption John Parker and 70 militiamen waiting. Americans did not drop there muskets at the British commanders order & within minutes the shot heard around the world & 8 militiamen were dead. The British marched to Concord where they destroyed military supplies. Fight at bridge British had to treat. 4,000 minuteman and militiamen lined the road to fire at the redcoats. 1,000 Britsih troops came to save Britsih from distruction.

    This was the meeting of the 13 colonies in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
    Some of the same delegates come as the 1st continental congress. Benjamin Franklin and John Hancock were the noble new members. In this continental congress they managed colonial war efforts and moved toward indepenedence. They did this by raising armies, directing strategy, appointing diplomats and making formal treaties.   • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    When Boston was struggling the militiamen took advantage of them. They had the opportunity to take over Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill. As result, 1,000 redcoat men died but only 400 militamen were lost. The group lost much of their army.

    This pamphlet was publish by Thomas Paine in the American Revolution. It was made to inspire the colonist. It told the moral of the war, clarified the issues at stake in the war, and denounced the advocates of a negotiated peace. It pamphlet was also read aloud to the soldiers.

    Common Sense by Thomas Paine
    Published in the beginning of 1776, the pamphlet inspired the 13 Colonies to fight for their independence. In the pamphlet, it states reasons to become Patriots. This push helped the Cononies achieve their independence.

    This was a document created and then signed by 56 delegates of the Continental Congress and then adopted by the Continental Congress of July 4th, 1776. This document stated that the 13 colonies were no longer colonies and considered then independent states. They then considered them all as a new unionized nation.

    Fought is Brooklyn, New York the Battle of Long Island was a huge victory for the British. It was a start of a compaign that gave british controll over New York. It was the first war after the US declared indepence.Washington understood that the base would be the perfect stop for the British Nay durning the compaign. Washington established defences and waited for the British to attack.

    At 8am the morning after christmas after General George Washington'c crossing of the Delaware River north of Trenton, NJ the weather made it able for the main body of the Continental Army and George Washington to easily fight the Hessians at Trenton. About 2/3 out of the 1,500 Hessians were captured and the Continental Army had little loses. This victory inspired new recruits and soldiers to serve longer.

    These were the turning points in the war. Benedict Arnold lead American army foces that made Britian retreat. Benedict got angry about the lack of recognition. He betrayed his army to fight for the British.
    American won back Fort Ticonderoga in an easy fight.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    Winter at Valley Forge
    When Washington's poorly feed army tired from long marches walked into Valley Forge they prepared for winters fury. 1/3 of them had shoes and many of them had bloody feet. They constructed a hut in 3 days and timber had to be collect from miles away. Build the but they only used 1 axe. Soliders recieved inadequate amounts of meat and bread, some getting nourishment from fire cake, mix of flour and water.After the winter they had lost over 2,500 men.

    Early in the morning Washington lead Marquis de Lafayette and his army of 5,000 Americans out of Williamsburg to surround Yorktown to block Cornwallis' esacpe by land while the French naval block the escape by sea.Cornwallis surrended at Yorktown field after 3 weeks of attacks.

    This treaty was signed by 4 people. As the winner of the Revolutionary War Americans won favorable terms in this treaty. The 6 things the treaty included were the US was independent, they had the boundaries of the Mississippi River,Canada, and Spanish Florida, US would be able to fish off the coast of Canada near Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, each side would repay back its debts, the British would return any taken persons, and congress recommended that the states return any property to Loyalists
