    Early Event

The infant received steady care and love shown through nutritional care, warmth, and love. The infant did not feel threatened and when the infant was presented with scenarios of crisis, the infant had hope that trust in compassion and faith in the support of people would see them through and this sense outweighed a sense of mistrust and pessimism. This steady environment created a sense of hope in the trust versus mistrust stage of development.
  • Science Project

The student worked incredibly difficult and presented his project at the science fair. His project was a success and his teachers praised him greatly. This represents Erikson's fourth stage of Industry vs inferiority. In this stage, adolescents are seeking encouragement and approval from their peers. If they feel accepted and accomplished (industrious) then they gain confidence, however if their initiative is not encouraged, the will loose confidence and feel inferior to their peers.
  • Commitment

    Commitment
The man chose to rent a living space with a significant other and share more of his life with them. This represents the sixth stage of Erikson's theory of development, intimacy vs. isolation. In this stage the man is looking to share his life more intimately with members outside of his family. Sharing a living space and other responsibilities may give the man a sense of purpose and can lead to greater sense of a successful life and a sense of security not having to be alone.
