Kenadie- Carl Sandburg By cnruncw Jan 6, 1878 Born on January 6th 1878 Feb 9, 1891 Quit school at the age of 13 to help support his family Apr 19, 1896 Moved to Puerto Rico for the Spanish American war where he then served for 8 months Apr 25, 1900 Went to Lombard for 4 years but never graduated Aug 21, 1907 Met his wife in 1907 Apr 25, 1908 Got married in 1908 May 20, 1911 Had a child in 1911 named "Madeline" but she died at child birth May 6, 1914 He became publicly recognized as a poet in 1914 Jun 26, 1916 Had another daughter on June 26, 1916 and her name was "Janet" Jun 13, 1919 Carl won his first poetry prize Apr 25, 1935 Him and his wife and daughter moved to Mount Airy North Carolina Oct 22, 1959 He won his last prize for poetry in 1959 Jul 22, 1967 He then sadly passed away in 1967 on july 22nd in Mount Airy North Carolina
