his first design
Benz designed his engine and the body for the three-wheel vehicle with an electric ignition, differential gears, and water-cooling. The car was first driven in Mannheim in 1885.(KIT) -

in 1906 he founded a second automaking concern, K. Benz & Sons, which built automobiles until 1923, and is presently an auto parts maker and major subcontractor for Daimler AG -
Death
Karl Benz died at home in Ladenburg at the age of eighty-four from a bronchial inflammation.
