He participated in alot of compititions when he was growing up. when he was only 12 years old he sang Neyos song " So Sick" at a local singing competeion in stratford, Ontario and placed 2nd. Later the next year Scooter Braun (his maneger) was looking for a different singer on youtube while justins video came up, he clicked on a few of his other videos until he came across his version of Neyos song "So Sick" . He couldnt belive how great he was so he called justins mom pattie.

Scooter Braun was on the phone with Justins mom for about 3 hours, Pattie agreed to fly out to Atlanta with justin to meet Scooter. Later that month he went back to Atlanta to met with usher and then on he signed him.
