Sutton Foster is an award-winning actor, singer and dancer who has performed in 11 Broadway shows – most recently the Revival of Violet – and originated roles in the Broadway productions of The Drowsy Chaperone, Little Women, Young Frankenstein, Shrek The Musical, and her Tony Award-winning performances in Anything Goes and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

    Jonathan Groff has split his time living between Pennsylvania and New York. Groff grew up in Lanchaster, Pennsylvania where he spent the majority of his childhood and part of his adolescence driving around in his Amish neighborhood. And there is not really any information on Groff living in New York but there were rumors that he had bought a house in New York in 2019.

    Groff took part in many community productions in his hometown of Lancaster. At 17 years old, he directed and starred in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown at a high school theatre festival at the Fulton Opera House, for which he won a community award.

His was going to attend Carnegie Mellon University but he didn’t end up attending because he deferred (put off) his admission for a year when he was casted as Rolf in a Non-Equity national tour of The Sound of Music
  • Cancer Diagnosed

    In the year 2005, when Groff was in is 20's, he was diagnosed with Melanoma cancer (skin cancer) on his sternal (chest). Fortunately, for Groff he ended up getting it removed before any big surgery would happen. It left a 5-inch scar on his sternal.
  • Beginning of Broadway Journey and Spring Awakening

    From the years 2006-2008 he began his career on Broadway, rising to prominence for his portrayal of Melchior Gabor in the original production of Spring Awakening, alongside Lea Michele which was soon to be his co-star in Glee. Groff was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical due to his act in Spring Awakening.

    Groff publicly came out as gay when asked by a Broadway reporter during the National Equality March in October 2009. He later shared his experience with coming out, discussing the pain of being closeted and the knowledge that disclosing his sexuality could have negative ramifications on his career. He has also expressed how much he values being a role model for young people as an out actor and has advocated for the importance of sharing coming out stories.

    In the year 2009 to 2015, Jonathan appeared in 15 episodes of the show Glee. Glee is about a high school show choir, also known as a glee club, in the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio (Vocal Adrenalin). Jonathan played Jesse St. James at the age of 28.

  • Groff's role in Frozen

    On November 27, 2013 which eventually went on general theater in the year 2017. Groff voiced Kristoff, a rugged mountain man and love interest to Anna, and his reindeer Sven in Disney's animated feature Frozen, alongside Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna), and Josh Gad (Olaf).

    In 2014, Groff participated in the virtual event of the Pennsylvania democratic party. The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is headquartered in Harrisburg and is the largest political party in the state. Its chair is Senator Sharif Street.
  • King George the lll- Hamilton

    In January 20th of 2015, Hamilton the Musical was released. Groff stared in the musical as Kind George lll. Every time his character would appear (3 solos) his character would mainly use facial expressions to show the emotion Groff said "Vocally, [“You’ll Be Back” and “What Comes Next”] are challenging for me to sing. And it’s very exposed — I walk out there on the edge of the stage alone".

  • Mind Hunter

    Groff acted as Holden Ford in the thriller Mindhunter. This series was released in 2017. This series is one of three main reasons that Jonathan Groff is well known today. (Frozen series, and Hamilton)
  • Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album

    In the year 2018, he was nominated for 3 awards and the winner of one. He was nominated for Once On This Island (coming of-age stage musical), Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (Musical), My Fair Lady (Musical/Romance). He ended up winning the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album from The Band's Visit (Musical).

    In 2019 he was once again nominated for 3 and won a Grammy. Imogen heap the music of Harry Potter and the cursed child - in four contemporary suites (Soundtrack), Oklahoma! (2019 Broadway Cast Recording), Ain't Too Proud: The Life And Times Of The Temptations (Original Broadway Cast Recording). He ended up winning the award for Hadestown (original Broadway cast recording).

    Groff was nominated for, Bob Dylan's Girl from the North Country original Broadway cast recording, Burt Bacharach and Steven Sater's Some lovers (world premiere recording), Claude-Michel Schönberg Les Misérables: the staged concert (the sensational 2020 live recording) [live from the Gielgud theatre, London], Andrew Lloyd Webber highlights from “Cinderella”. Finally he ended up winning the Grammy for the The Unofficial Bridgeton Musical.

    He was nominated for the Original Broadway cast of Mj the musical - original Broadway cast recording, Caroline, Or Change (2021 Broadway Cast), Michael R. Jackson A Strange Loop (original Broadway cast recording) (deluxe edition), SIX: live on opening night (original Broadway cast recording), Mr. Saturday night (original Broadway cast recording) album. In the end, he won the Grammy for Sara Bareilles Into the woods (2022 Broadway cast recording).
  • Recent (In the works) Project, Doctor Who?

    Groff is currently in the works for a project called "Doctor Who?". According to Web Reporters "Ew" they state "The BBC has announced that the actor, whose other credits include Netflix's Mindhunter and the Broadway musical Hamilton, will appear on the new season of British time travel show Doctor Who in what is described as a "key role".
