Jonas volunteers at the House of the Old
As part of his volunteering hours, Jonas goes to the House of the Old and spends time with Fiona and some old lady. The lady talks to Jonas and he listens to her and replies, very interested. After a while, he asks Fiona about the old lady and he seemed bumped when she told her the lady had been released. -
Trying to help the Giver
When Jonas starts receiving memories, he sees how the Giver seems more relaxed. That's why after a few memories, he asks for new painful ones, thinking that it may help the Giver control his pain. He preferred to feel the pain himself than to see the Giver hurting as much as he did. -
Jonas prevents Asher
Asher was known for been extroverted and very energetic. Jonas was worried that, since the kids were playing by the river and Asher was the leader, something bad would happened and Asher got blamed. For this reason, Jonas told Asher not to play by the river and to be careful, but at last, the kids did not listen. -
Do parents love?
Jonas had just received the memory of love and he was enchanted by it. Because of this, as soon as he got home he decided to ask his parents if they loved him. His parents were confused by the question, since they didn't feel emotions. Jonas felt disappointed, but there was nothing he could do about it because his parents would not understand. -
Spending the night with Gabriel
Jonas saw how tired his parents were from taking care of Gabriel. That is the reason why Jonas offered to take care of him overnight. Gabriel slept peacefully that night, because Jonas was able to transmit a memory to him. -
Escaping from the Community
Jonas and the Giver had spent a lot of memories together. They planned for Jonas to run away, so the people would receive the memories he possessed. Jonas did not wait and follow the plan as it was, but he still decided to go. -
Taking Gabriel
Gabriel had not adjusted to the Community after so much time. That's why Jonas decided to take him when he escaped from the Community. Jonas felt a big, strong connection to Gabriel and he could not deal with the idea of Gabriel being released. -
Spending heat memories
A few days had passed since Jonas ran away form the Community. He took Gabriel with him and it was really cold for both of them. Instead of being selfish, Jonas spent his few heat memories with Gabriel, so he would sleep peacefully and be happy, instead of seeing what was going on and how hard it was for Jonas to survive.
