    John Polkinghorne born October 16, 1930 in in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. He is a physicist and priest , most notably known for bringing science and theology together.

    John received his bachelors degree in 1952 from Trinity college, Cambridge. He later on obtain his Master degree 1955 and doctorate degree 1956 both in quantum field theory from the same college.

    John also gave lectures in Edinburgh in mathematical physics. Later on he became a professor at Cambridge department of mathematical physics. He also obtained a second doctorate degree in elementary particle physics in 1974.

    John was recognized in 1974 for his creation of mathematical models that helped calculate paths of quantum particles. Five years later 1979 John announced that he had completed his work and resigned his post.

    In 1982 he John joined Westcott house in Cambridge to take upon theological studies. "In 1982 he received his ordination, and was assigned to a parish in South Bristol. He became vicar of a parish in Blean in 1984. In 1986 he was appointed fellow, dean, and chaplain of Trinity Hall, Cambridge. In 1989 he was appointed president of Queens’ College, Cambridge. He retired from this position in 1996."

    In 2002 John was awarded the Templeton Prize for his contributions in science, religion and medical ethics. He is one of the most important figures to bring the two practices together.
