John felt it was his duty to fight in the south african whach was a very rough time. He spent a year with his uniti in Souh Africa once he left he still believed he could have done better which was making sure less people died of sickness which he could have helped by using his medical degree

John served as a surgeon in world war 1 he also worked with guns occasionally this was a intense changeg from his normal home it was very rough war for many surgeons who had to operate on the wounded.
