    John A was born
    John A was born in Glasgow, Scotland to a buisness man and politican. He had a younger brother who later died from illness. When he was a boy his family immigrated to Kingston in Upper Canada which is today Eastern Ontario.

    Macdonald's parents told him he should become a lawyer after leaving high school. In British North America they had no law schools at that time so Macdonald was based off of 2 Exams throughout the whole year

    He bacame to push for confederation.The Canadians obtained permission to send a delegation—led by Macdonald, Cartier, and Brown to what became known as the Charlottetown Conference. This reallly started to make the thought of confederation serious and really big news.

    In August 1867, the new nation's first general election was held; Macdonald's party won easily, with strong support in both large provinces, and a majority from New Brunswick. He also won with Macdonalds Promise, the promise is that he would build a railway connecting all the colnies sea to sea so BC would join Confederation.

    In mid August and through September, John A resigned due to allegations of a bribe from Hugh Allen. Alexander Makenzie won the election, he was the one to tell the media about the scandal. He was labeled a fraud and hated by many but he came back with the National Policy

It also involved the building of the railway to not only get BC to join Canada but to also bring in settlers into the west.

    Thousand were touched and by his open casket in the Senate Chamber; his body was transported by funeral train to his hometown of Kingston. The election at that time had 7 weeks of a break to restore the death of one of the true Canadian heroes.
