    Joan join friends at school: Initiative versus Guilt
    Joan attends school for the first time, although she is very nervous and shy about her first day she decides to join a group of other students a the lego table. In Erikson's third stage, Initiative vs. Guilt, the crisis is between asserting one's self in play and activities or feeling as if you are nuisance and not apart of the group - either through parental punishment and restrictiveness or embarrassment.

    Joan finds a passion in theater: Identity versus Role Confusion
    Joan is in her sophomore year of high school and auditioned and received the lead role in the fall musical. Her performance was a huge success and she enjoyed the thrill! In Erikson's fifth stage, Identify vs. role confusion, the crisis is between finding personal identify and self or not finding a sense of purposes or self worth.

    After her own children graduated and were off to college, Joan started to teach the theater group at her local college. In Eriksons seventh stage, Generatively vs. Stagnation, the crisis is between making your mark on the world by giving back to society or becoming disconnected and unproductive from our communities.
