  • Chapter 1-4

    We are introduced to Katniss, a 16 year old girl living in District 12. When her sister Prim is reaped into the Hunger Games, Katniss takes her place along with the male tribute, Peeta Mellark.

  • Chapter 5-9

    Peeta and Katniss attend the opening ceremonies, where they are the stars of the show with their flaming costumes. Katniss and Peeta start going to training. A couple days later at the tribute interviews, Peeta announces his love for Katniss.

  • Chapter 10-14

    Katniss eventually gets over her initial shock at Peeta's annoucement before they enter the Games. Katniss separates from Peeta after entering the Games; Katniss outruns the Careers and causes the death of one of them, Glimmer, and before Katniss is killed, Peeta warns her to run from the Careers.

  • Chapter 15-19

    Katniss survives through the tracker jacker venom. She later teams up with Rue, but Rue is killed. Katniss does manage to blow up the Careers food supply, and learns that both she and Peeta can leave the Games together.

    After learning that both she and Peeta can win the games, Katniss sets out and eventually finds Peeta. He is injured, and to survive he needs medicine, attainable at a "feast". Katniss gets the medicine and returns to Peeta, but she passes out soon after.

  • Chapter 22-24

    Katniss and Peeta pass the time doing litte since they are both injured. When Peeta accidentally collects some nightlock, he unknowingly kills Foxface. The gamemakers force Peeta and Katniss towards Cato for a final showdown.

  • Chapter 25-27

    After Cato is killed by the mutts, Katniss and Peeta almost have to take nightlock, but at the last moment they are both declared winners. Katniss is in trouble because her rebellious act of attempting to eat the nightlock, but she makes it through the rest of the time in the Capitol.
