    African Americans gained more rights
    During this time period African Americans were allowed the rights to join armed forces, gained political privileges, and segregation laws were becoming less harsh. This allowed African Americans their liberty without restrictions stopping them from living their life.

    Women Recruited for War
    During the war, women entered the workforce in new ways. Women served in the navy and marines, and thousands served as nurses. Also, on the home front, women worked in factories and in the government. Instead of denying women’s rights they allowed them to pursue their happiness and what they want to do with their life.

    Many players on the White Sox baseball team were paid poorly in comparison to other teammates but each player had reserve clause on their contract that permitted them from changing teams which eventually lead to the Black Sox Scandal.     The Klan became very strong in many states, including non-southern states. Also, the Klu Klux Klan consisted of more than 5 million members in 1924. The Klan tried to persuade politics by using violence, but by the end of the decade the Klan began to decline. They attempted to pursue their happiness by murdering other races and to make their life better by murdering them.

    Mechanization is the 1920’s grew vastly in agricultural and society. Farming gained gasoline powered tractors and automobiles lowered in price due to the assembly line. Because of mechanization growing rapidly society lost jobs lowering their “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.”

    Prohibition, also known as the 18th amendment, was a ban on making and selling alcohol. After this was passed saloons closed and speakeasies replaced them. People began making their own alcohol and selling it; these people were called bootleggers. Also, the crime rate increased after the amendment and the most notorious criminal was Al Capone. This amendment restricted citizens from their liberty of drinking and living their life how they pleased.

    Women gained the right to vote in 1920 also known as the 19th amendment. Many women fought for this amendment through protesting, lectures, and speeches. It was not only a huge victory but a milestone for our country. The amendment guarantees all American women the right to vote, giving them their liberty to contribute to our nation.

    Congress passed new and more restrictive immigration laws such as quotas, which were set at only 2 percent of existing nationalities in the U.S. in 1920. Japanese immigration was suspended. These quotas restricted humans from settling down in a great country among others and they couldn’t pursue their happiness to reside in the U.S.

    The Jazz Age was a post-World War I movement in the 1920s which not only went hand-in-hand with the bold fads during this era but allowed the youth to rebel against old traditions. Jazz music is accredited to both African Americans and white Americans who made the music rise in popularity allowing people to express themselves in life.

    The automobile did not favor many citizens until wages increased and cost for a vehicle decreased. Cars gave the driver an exuberant feeling that made them enjoy life and liberty.

    During this time it was a huge representation for Ford Motor Company to reach and exceed one billion dollars. This showed society’s love for cars, pursing their happiness to uphold a wealthy status. Also by predicting that Ford Motor Company would go on to become one of the largest and most profitable companies in the world, as well as being one of the few to survive the Great Depression.

    This act put a limit on allowed immigrants into the United States. It put a hault on people who wanted their liberty to become a United States citizen.

    Al Capone’s gangsters killed seven enemies in Chicago, Illinois that were seemingly a threat to them. By killing these men in a line up it gave a reality to check to America about what was happening. Once the authorites were involved in the case it gave others happiness to pursume their life without worries.

    The New Deal was a series of domestic economic programs put in place during the Great Depression. It focused on what is called the "3 Rs": Relief, Recovery, and Reform. That is Relief for the unemployed and poor; Recovery of the economy to normal levels; and Reform of the financial system to prevent a repeat depression. This allowed the citizens of the United States to regain their life.

    On Tuesday October 29th, 1929, Wall Street witnessed a decline in the Dow Jones, an incident that became known as “Black Tuesday.” Between early September and the end of October 1929 the market lost a total of 40% in less than 8 weeks. From its high in September ’29 to its low on July 29, 1932, the market had lost a total of 89%. Workers lost their jobs, people lost happiness, and their lives turned upside down.
