    Plankalul is a programming language which was created for for engineering purposes by Konrad Zuse. It was the first high-level programming language to be designed for a computer. It first appeared 68 years ago, in 1948.
  • Fortran

    Fortran is a general-purpose, imperative programming language that was invented in 1957. It was originally developed for scientific and engineering applications.
  • MATH-MATIC

    MATH-MATIC is the marketing name for the AT-3 compiler. It was originally written in 1955 by a team led by Charles Katz but first appeared in 1957. It is a business oriented language.
  • Lisp

    A family of computer programming languages which was designed by John McCarthy in 1958. Originally created as a practical mathematical notation for computer programs.
  • COBOL

    A compiled computer programming language designed for business use. Primarily used for business and finance purposes. COBOL is still widely used in legacy applications deployed on mainframe computers.
  • RPG

    RPG is a high-level programming language for business applications. The acronym stands for Report Program Generator, a tool to replicate punched card processing. It first appeared in 1959.
  • BASIC

    A general-purpose, high-level programming language which was designed for ease of use. Designed at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire on May 1st, 1964.
  • LOGO

    Logo is an educational programming language that was created in 1967. Know for it's use of turtle graphics. The name for this programming language is not an acronym though many think it is.
  • B

    A programming language developed at Bell Labs in 1969 by Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie. It was derived from BCPL. Designed for recursive, non-numeric, machine independent applications, such as system and language software.
  • C

    A general-purpose, imperative computer programming language. C was designed by Dennis Ritchie between 1969 and 1973 at Bell Labs and it was used to re=implement the Unix operating system.
  • ML

    ML is a general-purpose functional programming language developed by Robin Milner. It was developed in the early 1970's but first appeared in 1973. It has roots within the LISP language.
  • SQL

    The SQL stands for Structured Query Language and is a special-purpose programming language for the data that is stored in relational database management system. It first appeared in 1974 but was not officially released to the public until 1986.
  • ADA

    The ADA is an object oriented, high-level computer programming language. It was developed by Jean Ichbiah of CII Honeywell Bull.
  • Visual Basic

    Visual Basic is a third-generation event-driven programming language that was designed for beginner programmers and Microsoft intended for it to be relatively easy for someone to use. It first appeared in 25 years ago, in 1991.
  • Python

    Python is a widely used general-purpose, dynamic programming language that first appeared on February 20th, 1991. It was designed to emphasize code readability.
  • Delphi

    Embarcedaro Delphi is a programming language and software developer kit for desktop, mobile, web, and consoles.
  • PHP

    PHP is a server-side scripting language created mainly for web development. It's also used as a general-purpose programming language. It first appeared in 1995.
  • Java

    Java is a general-purpose computer programming language. It first appeared on May 23rd, 1995 as a core component of Sun Microsystems' Java platform. It is intended to let app developers "write once, run anywhere" (WORE), which means that all of Java's compiled code can run on all platforms that support Java.
  • Javascript

    Javascript is a high-level, dynamic, interpreted programming language. Along with HTML and CSS, it's one of the three main technologies of World Wide Web content production. It was invented in 1995.
