Jacques Marqueutte was born in 1637 in Laon, France. His dad was James and his mom's name was Marie.

He joined this religious society and became a Jesuit missionary, and since then, he made lots of missions.

This was Marquette's first Jouney. He explored to Canada to replace a man by the name of Alloez.

In 1669 Marquette traveled to Michigan to build the St. Ignace in the upper part of Michigan. We don't know exactly what the date was but we do know the year.

Marquette traveled with his friend Louis Joliet. They were chosen to lead this journey to find the direction and mouth of the Mississippi River,

Marquette made a stop to Wsconsin to get food in supplies

In Marquette's second journey he traveled to Mississippi once again. Here he found srtange animals and described one of them to look like tigers head with whiskers.

In 1674 Jaques traveled to Illinois to build a second mission

In Michigan 1675 he died because of illness.

In honor of Marquette the famous explorer the Marquette colege named their school after him.
