  • Declaration of independence is signed

    This date marks when the U.S. decided they wanted to break away from Britain. They sent a letter to the King of Britain to declare their "independence." this did not go well with the King and a war started with Great Britain called the Revolutionary War.
  • Creation of the US Constitution

    The US Constitution is completed and signed. This document describes the government of the United States. It was created after the near failure of th Articles of Confederation.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Thomas Jefferson Purchased enough land to double the size of America.He bought 529,920,000 acres of land for the small price of $15,000,000.This was a very large step in our country's growth.
  • San Fransisco Gold Rush

    Gold was struck in San Fransisco, California. Soon later many people flocked to California in search of gold. This helped America expand west in a heartbeat. This was the goal of many presidents before.

    American Civil War

    The Civil war changed the united states in a large way. It first started when the South seceded from the North. Many soldiers died for their country and in the end the north won and brought the south back. After reconstruction of the south the nation slowly recovered.The civil war was fought so the South could have slavery and the North won and took that away. That makes this nation a more humane place and more jut.
  • Lincolns Assassination

    When Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, his plan for reconstrucion was completely thrown off. When this happened it put Andrew Johnson in office which was terrible for the United States. He had beliefs that were not good for running the country. This event made Americas recovery much slower.
  • Golden Spike

    When the Golden Spike was driven by Leland Stanford, the transcontinental railroad was complete and ready for use. The golden spike is when the last spike for the transcontinental railroad was driven. This marked the end of the construction for the railroad and the hard labor done by Irish and Chinese immigrants
  • Native Americans surrender to U.S.

    On September 4th 1886 the Native American chief Geronimo surrendered to the U.S. This ended the freedom of the Native Americans. From then on the Native Americans lived in small reserves and among the Americans. When the Native Americans surrendered, the wild frontier began to be populated and became less wild from then on.

    World War II was one of the biggest, most tragic war of all time.
  • Civil Rights Act

    The civil rights act said that no race, color, religion, or sex should be discriminated. Before this, African Americans were hugely discriminated un the United States. This was getting really out of hand and the act came in just in time.
  • Apollo 11 Landing on the Moon

    On this day the United states landed a rocket on the moon. This is important because it was the first time anyone has been on the moon. The U.S. beat the Soviet Union in what was called the "space race."
  • My Birthday

    I was born in Reading Hospital in Reading, PA. Born to Lynne and Marlin Mast, I was not the only one that day. Along with me, my brother Micah was born 2 minutes after me.
  • Terrorist Attacks of 9/11

    This date will remind anyone in the US ofthe trageties that happened. Two planes crashed into the twin towers-a terrorist attack from Al-qaeda. From this day on Security procedures have changed at a rapid rate. This date has a place in every Americans mind.
