In 1950 Ferrari competed in its first Formula One World Championship. After that Ferrari competed in every Formula One World Championship. Ferrari is the only car company to constantly compete in this race year after year.

Lamborghini was founded by an ex world war II mechanic named Ferruccio Lamborghini. He owned many cars from the manufactures Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Ferarri,and Lancia. Then he decided to make a sports car of his own, and in 1963 he made the Lamborghini 350GTV.

In 1969 Fiat bought a 50% share in both Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. Also during this time Fiat bought Lancia completely and chose to keep it separate. This was not an unexpected move because Fiat has slowly been taking over the Italian car market since its creation.

In 1993 Fiat completely bought Maserati. Ever since this move Fiat has became the largest car company in the Italian car industry, and also has made up for 6% of the total car industry.

During this time Lamborghini was sold to another car company named Volkswagen. Volkswagen is not Italian company so Lamborghini was no longer an Italian car company.
