It's Kind of a Funny Story

  • Maps

Craig is obsessed with maps. At 3 years old, he thought that he should know exactly where he lived. So he studied maps of New York City. And then one day he starts making his maps of made up cities with made up streets and made rivers and made up buildings. Craig doesn't waste time doodling, he draws maps.
  • The Last Day

    The Last Day
Craig had made it a compatition. It was him against the Test. The Test that was the gate between him and his idea of a great life. But little did Craig know that the day he got the results of his score (which was an 800 out of 800) would be the last truly happy day he could remember.
  • Watching Video games

Craig is depressed. He feels he can't compete at school, and his best friend Aaron seems to succeed at everything without even trying. So, he spends all his time watching other people play video games and smoking pot with Aaron & his girlfriend, Nia.
  • Cycling

    Cycling
School has gotten the best of Craig. He can't eat. He can't sleep. He only get's 93's in school, not 100's like everyone else. He can't stop the Cycling in his head, and he can't cut off his Tenticles (That's Craig's term for everything that weighs him down). His friends would never understand, and he's in love with a girl he can't have. And on this night, it's the worst it's ever been. So he makes the decision to kill himself by throwing himself of the Verrazano Bridge.
  • Checking In

    Checking In
But before Craig can go through with it, he thinks about his family. How much it would hurt his mom, little sister, and dad if Craig wasn't on this Earth anymore. So found the suicide hotline number, who told him to go straight to the hospital. So he checked himself in and told the doctors about how he wanted to kill himself. And that's where the real adventure starts.
  • I Think I'm Better Now, Can I Go?

Craig didn't realize that when you check yourself into a hospital for being suicidal, they don't just give you fast-acting medication and send you on your merry way. So you can imagine his surprise and high-rising anxiety when they tell him he'll be staying in the psychiatric hospital for at least 5 days. & ther's also the fact that the farther he goes into the hospital, the weirder the people get. Like the old black man who keeps repeating "It'll come to ya!" over and over.
  • Surprise, Surprise.

Craig's roomate literally never gets out of bed and has a very strong scent, a transsexual sex addict takes Craig a little bit by surprise (Craig wasn't aware that 'she' was really a 'he'), A girl his age with deep cuts on her face askes him out, and Craig was able to eat his food without throwing it up. All in all, a pretty okay first day at the psych ward.
  • Noelle, Brain Maps, Cards, & Yuppies

Noelle, Brain Maps, Cards, & Yuppies
Craig had his first 'date' with Noelle, the girl with the cuts, and he started making his maps agian in arts a crafts. Ebony, the biggest black women Craig had ever seen, loved them and said they looked like 'brain maps'. Self-elected President Armelio teaches Craig how to play cards, and a man named Humble gives Craig a lesson about how humans are really animals, and that there are too many 'yuppies' out there in the world.
  • Here's to Making New Friends

As Craig continues to form new relationships with people who are actually pretty awesome, he gets closer to finding the source of his anxieties. He tells both Aaron & Nia he's done with them, he gets his roomate to venture out of his room (even if it is just for a few seconds), and his principal tells him that the he has the schools full support. And Craig is still able to eat, which is a very big deal for him.
  • Nia.

Nia comes to visit Craig at the hospital, and tells craig about how her & Aaron broke up. She tells him that Craig is cool because he is so messed up, and the next thing you know, they're making out. Even though Craig knows that he doesn't really like Nia, this is still the girl he's dreamt about for a year. But things go downhill when his roomate catches them together, and so does Noelle.
  • Live

    Live
It's his last day in the mental hospital, & even with yesterdays fall outs, Craig and Noelle are on great terms. and plan to go out when they both get out. Craig and Muqtada (his roomie) are on good terms. Craig has decided to transfer schools, and go to an arts school. Craig is sleeping and eating and making art and has decided to just Live, and do things that make him happy.
