  • When it began

    When it began
In 1989 a street thug named Zarqawi arrived in Afghanistan as a mujahideen wannabe, since he was too late to fight the Soviet Union. He went back home to where he lived at the time, in Jordan, and remained a fringe figure in the international violent “jihad” for much of the decade. He returned to Afghanistan to set up his own training camp for terrorists.

  • How Isis could affect U.S. today

How Isis could affect U.S. today
It could derail the world economy. The crisis in Iraq has already caused an oil shock, with energy prices spiking as ISIS advanced. If the crisis continues, you’ll eventually be paying more for gas. Currently Isis's targets are just in Iraq.
  • Enduring Understanding

Isis relates to the enduring understanding and essential questions because Isis is a diplomacy driven by nation self interest and has domestic global consequences. Zarqawi shows how his attempts of taking over the middle east by making his own terrorist group and expanding it trying to get people from around the globe go join. He has gained power by threatening and making people aware of how power and forcing people to join his group. There is no competing interests.
