    events in Iran had disrupted the production of Oil there so gas prices shot up in America and inflation soared.
  • Beginning of Iranian Hostage crisis

    A mob attacked the American embassy in Tehran capturing several dozen American employees.
  • Operation Eagle Claw

    Carter launched a rescue mission to save the hostages in the embassy but there was a sand storm the day of the mission and it caused some of the helicopters to malfunction causing one to crash which killed eight soldiers.
  • The 1980 Election

    President Carter looked weak with not being able to bring the hostages home. And since he was only focused on bringing them home it kept him away from the campaign trail.

    Just a few hours after Ronald Reagans inaugural speech the rest of the hostages are let go.
