Premise Explaination
I Funnier is the second book in the I funny seris. It takes place in present time in Long Beach New York. The main character is Jamie Grimm who is paralized from the waist down. He has an uncle named Frankie and three main friends named Pierce, Gaynor, and Gilda. He lives with his Uncle Smiley and Aunt Smiley in Smileyville. But -
Event 1 Training
Jamie is back at the grind of training for his next competion after winning the New York state funniest kid competion. He is now training for the regional competion up in Boston. Like always Jamie is not very confident and thinks he will get blown out. But his friends and family keep working with him to gain confidence and work on new ideas. His uncle Frankie even takes him to a SNL show. He works very hard throughout his training but what his family does not know his school grades are suffering -
Event 2 Tutoring
As you know Jamie is very lucky to have his school bully as his cousin and to live with him. Jamie gets random insults and swirlys almost every day. But now Aunt and Unlcle smiley have a surprise for both Jamie and Stevie. Jamie will be trying to tutor Stevie. At first it was very hard for Jamie becasue it took away from his training but after a few weeks Stevie was starting to pass some classes. Evetually Jamie did not have to tutor Stevie anymore becasue of how smart he had gotten. -
Event 3 Gaynor's problem Part 1
One day while Pierce, Gaynor, Gilda, and Jamie were at lunch they thought they wanted to do somthing together as a small celebration of Jamie soon going up to Boston for the Competion. So they went to the movies where Gaynor treated them all with tons of money. None of his friends knew where he had gotten it. But the next day at school Gaynor was called down to the office where he was screamed at for stealing money out of lockers. That was where Gaynor had gotten the money. -
Event 4 Gaynor's problem part 2
After the talking to Gaynor came back to class looking sad. Jamie asked him what is wrong and Gaynor told him that the princapal was yelling at him for stealing things out of peoples lockers. He also said he was expelled. So after school they went to see Uncle Frankie and told him everything. That is where Gaynor told the truth to the group about how he had stole money becasue he did not have any to buy diner becasue his mom was in the hospital with cancer. Gaynor had been living alone. -
Event 5 Gaynor's problem part 3
So Uncle Frankie went and talked to the Princapal about what had happend with Gaynors mom and the Princapal said he could come back to school. Gaynor then started to live with Uncle Frankie and Jamie asked to stay there to for a while to help Gaynor. Eventually Gaynor's mom felt better and Gaynor could go home. Gaynor felt a lot better and everyone was ready for Jamie to go up to Boston for the big competion. Although Gaynor got back into school he did have to serve three weeks in detention. -
Event 6 Boston
Before Jamie headed up to Boston everyone met on the board walk where the whole town had a send off party for Jamie. Jamie thought it was awesome but was nervous if he would lose he would let the whole town down. Once he got up to Boston he enterd the backstage area where he met another competitor who thought it was funny that Jamie was in a wheel chair and was making fun of him. Jamie got a little nervous but did great in his act. He went to the second round and won the whole thing. -
Event 7 Grades
After winning the regional competion Jamie felt very good about him self. He was getting high fives from everyone in town. He was super happy until he got home to see his report card. When he got home to see that his report card was full of D's and C's. He told Uncle Frankie thinking he would be ok with it because of how hard he has worked on his skits but it was the opposite. He said he was grounded from comedy until his grades got up. Jamie was upset but eventully understood. -
Event 8 Back on Track
After three weeks Jamie eventully got his grades up and was allowed to start preping for his big show in the semi finals in Las Vegas. But the only problem would be that he only had one week until the competition. But before anything he took the long ride out to cornwall where he lived before he got in his accident. He went there to see his Mom, Dad, and Sisters grave stones. Jamie missed them a lot and wished they were here to watch him preform. -
Event 9 Uncle Frankie
On their way back from Cornwall Jamie and Uncle Frankie stopped to get some food. After Uncle Frankie was not feeling to good and passed out in the Car. He had a Heart attack. Jamie did not know what to do so he called 911.The doctors arrived and brought him to the hospital. After waiting in the ICU for hours the doctor told them he would be all right. But the problem was nobody would be able to run Uncle Frankies Diner. -
Event 10 The Last Joke
Uncle Frankie's Diner would have gone out of business if it were not for the Smlieys. Jamie Called the contest and told them he would not be attending the semi finals in Las Vegas becasue nobody would be able to bring him. Everyone was helping out at the diner. But after the the semi finals the judges picked him as a wild card to move on to the finals in Hollywood. His acts in the finals were amazing and he won the whole thing. -
Conclusion
In my oppinion I loved the book. I enjoyed how it was funny and suspensful at the same time. I picked the book becasue my friends said it was good and now I believe them. I would totaly recomend this book to anyone. I am ver excited to kepp reading in the seris becasue I do not know what will happen next. personally I believe he will go on to win another contest. Or it may show his future as a stand up comdiean.
