  • The First Telephone

    The First Telephone
In the 1870s, two inventors Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell both independently designed devices that could transmit speech electrically (the telephone). Both men rushed their respective designs to the patent office within hours of each other; Alexander Graham Bell patented his telephone first. By creating the telephone this allowed people to communicate with each other while being in two different locations.

Popular from the 1890s to the 1930s, the candlestick phone was into two pieces, which was different from the original creation. The mouth piece formed the candlestick part, and the receiver was placed by your ear during the phone call. This made it easier to talk and listen to people on the other side of the line. Western Electric produced its first model to use a handset, making it easy for the subscriber to use the telephone while keeping a hand free for taking notes or performing other tasks.
The A1 was built upon the base of the 51AL candlestick. The post was shortened and a cradle with modified switch hook was added. By being able to dial a specific number this let people contact certain people on the other line, and they use a 8 digit telephone number to contact them.

  • The First IPhone

    The First IPhone
Apple IPhone was created in 2007. That makes the iPhone more than just a gadget. It's a genuine handheld, walk-around computer, the first device that really deserves the name. One of the big trends of 2007 was the idea that computing doesn't belong just in cyberspace; it needs to happen here, in the real world, where actual stuff happens. The iPhone gets applications like Google Maps out onto the street, where we
    Really need them. http://content.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,28804,1677
