    This was a huge influence on the Declaration of Independence because it was the first document to introduce rule of law, and limited the power of the government.

  • Mayflower Compact

    The Mayflower compact was written in 1620 by separtist congregationalist, often know as pilgrims, to protect themselves, and it was the first written framework of govenment in what is now the United States.
    This helped influence the Declaration of Independence because it solved the basic problum of who is in charge.
  • English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights was written in 1689, England, to limit the power of the king and expanf the power of parliment.
    This was an influence on the Declaration of Independence because it gave us the Idea to declare our rights and liberties.

    The Enlightenment was a time period when people, like John Locke and Baron Dr Montesquieu came up with many different philosophy.
    This influenced the Declaration of Independence with I dead such as natural rights,social contract, and separation of power.

    After two wars in the 1700's Britian was in debt so they unfairly taxed Americans by forcing them to place an expensive stamp on all documents and newspapers.
    When the king decieded to unfairly tax the Americans it showed them how unjust the king was treating them, which lead to the writing of the Declaration of Indepence.
