    In 1913 Duncan Campbell Scott was appointed deputy superintendent, Scott became the highest-ranking cabinet member on matters concerning Indigenous affairs. This wasn’t good for first nations because Scott didn’t like indigenous people; he even said that the goal of residential schools was to “kill the Indian in the child.” Scott has also said, “I want to get rid of the Indian problem”.
