  • Revolution begins

    The Spamish discover the Katiounan, an anti-colonial organazation. Led by Andres Bonifacio the organazation publicly calls for a nation wide armed revolt and proclaims a revolutionary governement.
  • Bonifacio dies

    Due to internal power struggle Bonifacio is killed and the comand shifts to General Emilio Auginaldo.
  • Pact of Biak-na-Bato

    The Spanish and the revolutionaries sign a pact. It provides amnesty and money to the revolutionary government in return for handing over their firearms and exiling the revolutionary government to Hong Kong. Skirmishes however continue bettween the two sides.
  • Spanish-American war

    The Americans launch a naval blockade of Cuba starting the Spanish-American war that will soon shift to the Pacific.
  • Battle of Manila Bay

    The Americans defeat the Spanish navy at Manila bay (Near Manila, the biggest city in the Philipines) and take control of the city.
  • Auginaldo and government return to the Philipines

    Auginaldo and his exiled government return to the Philipines as unofficial allies of the Americans. They resume their war on Spanish contol of the Philipines.
  • Declaration of independance

    Revolutionary forces under the command of EmilioAuginaldo proclaim the independace of the Philipines from Spain after having seized all of the country save for Manila. However neither Spain nor the United States recognise their independance
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris is signed. Spain gives control of Cuba, Costa Rica, parts of the Spanish West Indies and Guam to the United States. The Philipines is ceaded to the U.S.A. for a payment of $20 million to the Spanish Empire. The Philipne Revolutionary government did not recognise the treaty or American rule.
  • Battle of Manila

    Revolutionary troops attack the americans at Manila and start the Philippine-American war. Americans only control the city while the rebels control the country side.
  • End of Philippine-American war

    After the capture of General Emilio Auginaldo, the rebels formaly surrender to the United states. Smaller rebel cells however continue the struggle against the Americans.
  • Philippine Autonomy Act

    The Americans grant the Philippines the power to fully elect their legisletive assembly. They also for the first time officialy commit to granting full independance to the Philippines.
  • Treaty of Manila

    After Japanes occupation of the Philippines the United states grants full independance to the Philippines.
  • First Genral Election

    First general elections are held and Manuel Roxas is sworn in as the first President of the independent Philippines.
