    Imre Lakatos attended the University or Debrecen and studied math, physics and philosophy while he was there. He graduated and in 1948 he received his Ph.D. He later attended the University of Cambridge where he received a doctorate in philosophy.

    Rough Start

    Lakatos began working at the Hungarian Ministry of Education. He was a senior official. He did not like to follow the Russian orders and began to have issues with the other official. This resulted in him going to prison for three years for revisionism.
  • Released

    Lakatos was released from prison and picked up where he left off. He began to research the field of mathematics. During this time he also translated some math books to Hungarian.
  • Great Britain

    Lakatos moved to Great Britain and began work at the London School of Economics. His job at the school was an assistant lecturer of the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method.
  • Publlished Work

    Lakatos wrote a thesis called "Essays in the Logic of Mathematical Discovery." The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science published his work in four parts. His work was titled Proofs and Refutations. This book was not published and released until after his death.
  • Editor

    Lakatos eventually became the editor of The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science.
  • Major Contributions

    Some of Lakatos contributions to mathematics and philosophy were him proving the Euler-Descartes theorem and his idea to create a synthesis of Kuhn's model of the scientific theory. And his other contribution which had already been mentioned, Proofs and Refutations along with so much more.
