Big Thinker
Glenn Gould is known for his amazing abilities to play the piano, he is possibly one of the greatest pianists of all time. He began to play since the age of 3. -
Commited
At the age of 10, he began attending The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He studied music theory with Leo Smith, the organ with Frederick C. Silvester, and piano with Alberto Guerrero. This proves he has been commited to his passion since he was very small. -
Courage
Gould’s American début, in 1955, and the release, a year later, of his first Columbia recording, of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, launched his international concert career. Glenn shows he is courageous because he plays something really impossible to portray. -
Change Master
1964, he permanently retired from concert life. This becomes quite beneficial because he then dedicates recording his music, which becomes really famous. -
Decision Maker
Glenn made many different desisions throughought his life, he was also a writer and documentarist. Doing what he liked is what made him famous. -
Realistic and Persistent
In 1967, he created his first “contrapuntal radio documentary,” The Idea of North, an innovative tapestry of speaking voices, music and sound effects that drew on principles from documentary, drama, music and film. Over the next decade, he made six more such specimens of radio art, in addition to many other, more conventional, recitals and talk-and-play shows for radio and television. -

Gould shows his sence of humor when this happened : Gould: That thing! (seeming to be irritated, imitating a German accent) Mister, don’t be so disdainful about a member of the family!
Monsaingeon: What do you mean by "member of the family"?
Gould: It is a travel companion, without whom I cannot work, without whom I cannot play. I have been using it for 21 years, this... thing! That we could also classify as chair! -
Accepts and Uses Power Wisely
Gould proves to use his power wisely, because he does not waste his money and prefers peace and quiet in his rural home. He was a very simple and humble man, and at the same time respected by others. -
Positive and Hope Filled
Glenn proves to be full of hope in his 1981 recordings of the Goldberg Variations. He plays them which so much passion and expresison, that these pieces became some of the most famous of all time. -
Risk Taker
In the summer of 1982, having largely exhausted the piano literature that interested him, he made his first recording as a conductor, and he had ambitious plans for several years’ worth of conducting projects; he planned then to give up performing, retire to the countryside, and devote himself to writing and composing.
