    Christopher Columbus finds America

    Christopher Columbus was told by the queen to find Asia. He set sail on the sea on the Nina, Pinta, and the Santa Maria. He wanted to get gold/money to be rich. He set land on America thinking that he was on Japan or China but he was really on the central Americas. This is an important date in history because he replied back that he found land that people are living in right now.

    They had more soldiers and could hire professional soldiers too. Most Indian tribes sided with Britain too. The colonists still won in the end though. This is important because this is how our country formed itself.

    Good things for the colonists- They were home and they knew their land very well. The colonists were very faithful and they wouldn't give up. They also were fighting for something that you really want which makes you want to fight for it. The colonies also had allies from different countries. Bad things for the colonists- they were going against the biggest army in the world at that time. They were underdogs and underrated. The British had better armor, weapons, etc.

    American Revolutionary War

    Britain was unfair. They made the colonies pay a lot of taxes, so a lot of people went to jail for that. They also made a lot of rules. They called these acts. Some were the tea act, stamp act, and the sugar act. They also didn't want people a long distance away telling them what to do. So the colonists started a war to change how they should be treated. The started their own militia and rebelled against the British. There were good and bad things about having a war.

    Declaration of Independence

    The colonies wanted to seperate from Britain so the colonies sent 56 delegates to discuss about it. They created a document that was written by Thomas Jefferson stating that they wanted freedom. This was important because these people stood up for their rights and were brave enough to send it to the king.

    Constitution

    This document is how our country's government got formed. Gouverneur Morris of Pennsylvania wrote this as how our government should be. It states that the branches are even in power and that we have to follow the laws. This is important because this is how our government started. Today, we still have to follow what the constitution says today.

    Civil War

    This was a huge war. The main reason was because of slavery. The north disliked slavery and the south approved of slavery. The two sides argued with each other and started a war. General Robert E Lee was the biggest and the best general. The biggest north general is Ulysses Grant. They faught and faught until Lee surrendered at Appomattox Ct. This important because it was America's bloodiest war, and it made our country a lot closer to what we are like right now.

    War World 1

    World war 1 was the first world war and it involved major conflicts between the European countries. More than 20 million people were in injured in this war, making it a huge date in history. Although people tried to stop another huge world war, they started an organization but still failed. This is important because this was one of biggest wars in history. It also is big because it leads to War World 2 another big conflict.

    The Great Depression

    The Great Depression happened because of a stock market crash, making an economic slump and making people jobless. People were broke and poor because they didn't have a job. People had to make the most out of their things. Franklin D Roosevelt was the man to help us get out of it. This was important because this was a huge economic struggle for the US and everyone was poor and sad.

    World War 2

    This was a huge war. The war officially started when the prime minister of Britain declared war on Germany. Adolf Hitler of Germany started a party called the Nazi party which captured Jews and put them in concentration camp. The Nazi party killed and tortured as many as 6 million Jews. This is important because this killed so many people and property world-wide. The Japanese also bombed the US on Pearl Harbor which caused a lot of attention.

    Terrorists snuck in airport security and took control, or hi-jacked, 4 planes. Two hit the world trade center which killed many people. After time, the towers collapsed killing the police and firemen by the towers. The other airplane collapsed into the pentagon, the US's defense head quarters. The last one crashed in pennsylvania killing all of those passengers. The passengers were brave enough to stop the plane. People think that the 4th plane was going to collide with the capitol.

    This is an important date because terrorists killed many people that day. We still think about those people today. Memorials are set up for them. It was just a sad, important day.
  • Death of Osama Bin Ladin

    Osama Bin Ladin's deaath was huge. He was the leader of the group Al-Qaeda, a terrorist group. He was the deadliest man in the world. He did many things that were dangerous and cruel. He was the leader of who caused 9-1-1. He might have planned another 9-1-1 and killed many more people. This man's death was important because he could have planned many more traps and ways to kill many more people. The world is now a safer place without him.
