    The Magna Carta

    Was made to protect civilians from Heavy handed and arbitrary acts by the king. The document limited the kings power, i.e. giving the people the right of trial by jury.
  • The Petition of Right

    It was created to limit the kings power further. The petition states that the king has to follow the law of the land just like everyone else.
  • The English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights was created to prevent futre rulers from abusing their power. The Bill of Rights states that the crown can no longer do what they want when they want, The crown must first get the action approved by Parliament.
  • The Albany Plan of Union

    Was created by Benjiman Franklin as a way to unify the colonies. The union plan made it possible for the colonies to wage war with attacking forces, and to regulate trade with nativ tribes.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Indipendence was made in order to show the U.S breaking away from the English empire. The document states that all men are created equally, and desirve the same privlages as everyone else.
  • The Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation was created to unite the colonies for common defence. The articles gave each state the power to govern themselves within their own territory
  • The Virginia Plan

    The plan was proposed in order to form a new government. The plan gave the power to govern the states to three seperate branches.
  • The New Jersey Plan

    Was made as a slight revision to the Virginia Plan. The plan had an idea on how states would be represented in congress.
  • The Connecticut Comprimise

    Was made to end the argument on how the states were represented in congress. The staes would have an equal amount of people in the senate, while the number of people in the House would be determined by the population of the state.

    The Constitution was created to give the government a basis on how to operate. The Constitution gave limits on how the goverment can do, and how much power it has.
