This battle was important because after the Union had won, it helped Abraham Lincoln because he had the opportunity he wanted. He wanted to announce the Emancipation Proclamation. This made the battle of Antietam one of the crazy battles of the civil war.

This battle had the most amount of people killed during the entire war, and it is also known as the wars turning point. After a very bloody battle, the Union claimed victory.

The battle of Atlanta, which people also call the "fall of Atlanta". This battle was located southeast of Atlanta, Georgia, this event occurred on July 22. 1864. The Union's forces was commanded by William T. Sherman. Sherman had burned most of the buildings in the city, and he did not care if it was military or not. Around 70,000 people were in the battle, and around 9,000 were killed. After everything that had happened in the battle, the Union won.
