A person eats a food or substance that causes their first allergic reaction.
-
When that person eats that food or substance their body then create an antibody or proteins that then detects harmful substances.
-
The antibody then attaches itself to cells found in the body to prepare if that food may enter into the body again.
-
When the food eventually enters the body again it attaches to the antibodies and sends signals to the body to release histamine.
-
The histamine released in the body then causes swelling and irritation to many parts of their body.
-
The results of this irritation caused by the allergen can vary from hives, trouble breathing, to anaphylaxis.
