After the gold rush there were still many miners like coal miners that worked for companies instead of independent. It was easy to get the job as long as I worked a lower wage than everyone else.

When the United States passes the Chinese Exclusion Act many Chinese were deported. The first act was made in 1849 and finally were removed by 1943.

I finally get out of the city after buying all of my supplies and move west to become a miner.

After taking a train out west the mining experience was much different than I had imagined. Buy it was better than back home. When the Americans refused to work at such low wages the Chinese like me took their jobs for lower wages.

After about a year of hard mining in the horrible conditions of the mine I start to come down with a cough.

After mining with this cough the other miners start to notice and I get fired because I can’t work. I soon die of lung disease.
